Approved at the 2nd Department Assembly of the 1st semester on December 14 in the academic year 2011
I. The Department of Japanese Language and Literature at National Taiwan University (NTU), in accordance with the "Regulations for the Implementation of National Taiwan University Graduate Student Grants" dated October 25, 2011, has prepared these guidelines for the application, evaluation, and distribution of graduate student grants (hereinafter referred to our grant).
II. The Department Office will coordinate the planning of the nature and content of graduate assistantships, and define the rights, obligations, and qualifications for graduate students to apply for them at the beginning of the academic year.
III. The qualifications and requirements for this grant are as follows.
1. First priority will be given to the first and second-year students in the master's program.
2. Those who have a full-time job outside the school are not allowed to apply for this grant. Those who have a part-time job may apply for this grant if they can cooperate with the department's affairs without hindering their academic performance, but if their cooperation or academic performance is not good, the grant may be stopped.
3. Graduate students may apply through one of the three categories of A, B, or C. The distribution of the grant is as follows: NT$4,000 per semester for six Category A grants: The recipient works 20 hours per month as a regular administrative employee of the department. The payment will be paid monthly.
Category B: The recipient will work 10 hours per month as a regular administrative employee of the department and 10 hours per month as an assistant to a full-time faculty member designated by the office. The monthly payment is NT$4,000 for six months per semester.
Category C Grant: Recipients support the administrative work of the department at an hourly rate of $200. The amount of the grant may be adjusted flexibly each year depending on the workload and the total amount of the grant approved by the university. The decision is made by the department director.
IV: Applicants for this grant should submit a copy of the application form and complete the application process within two weeks of the first semester of each academic year.
V. The monthly amount of the grant is reported monthly according to the quality and quantity of the work done, and the total amount reported is subject to the maximum amount stipulated by the university. The month of receipt is from September for new students (August for returning students) to July of the following year. Graduate students receiving the subsidy should start working from the month they are accepted. If the number of hours is insufficient, they should make up for it before graduation.
VI. Graduate student assistants are evaluated by the department office or their respective management faculty, and grants are awarded on a monthly basis. If a student is not qualified for the job, the job may be adjusted or disqualified the following month.

VII. Graduate student assistants should submit monthly work hour reports to the department office for review after they have been signed and approved by their supervising faculty member. The work hours report for the current month should be submitted by the end of the following month.
VIII. If a graduate student is unable to perform his or her duties due to a significant case, the department director may cancel the grant.
IX. If a graduate student is disqualified from receiving a grant for a major reason, he/she may appeal to the Departmental Council, which will convene a meeting between the faculty and a representative of the graduate student within 10 days of receipt of the appeal letter, and notify the complainant and the related party to attend the meeting. The chairperson of the department shall execute the resolution of the departmental meeting.
X. This regulation shall be implemented after it is approved by the Department Assembly and shall be amended in the same manner.
