To help freshmen in Department of Japanese get familiar with their new learning environment, our student association holds orientation session on or after the day of registration. The seniors will give introduction mainly about the department and also share their learning experience. As the semester starts, the activity “Week for Japanese” will be held in December. Everybody in our department will join to make Daifuku, Yaki Mochi (Grilled Japanese rice cake), and Dango together, and sell all these products in Yukata dress. In addition, winter camp will also be held for high school students.
There are many activities in the second half of the semester. The NTU Azalea Festival takes place in March every year during the period when Azaleas in our campus bloom the mot beautifully. Freshmen and sophomore in department of Japanese will participate in this event, giving introduction about our department and sharing their learning experience to high school students.
Additionally, there will be two main events in May: the “Night for Japanese” and the graduation performance prepared by our junior students. On the “Night for Japanese”, various Japan featured performance such as dance, short play, Fan Dance, Taiko Drum, and Soran will be presented.
On the other hand, the graduation performance will be presented in full Japanese, which rolls all the learning outcomes including listening, reading, speaking, writing and translating into one.
We frequently hold academic activities of international cooperation with varying content that provide opportunities of allowing our students interact with foreign teachers. Additionally, we also invite off campus experts irregularly to give speech to our students, helping them expand their view and broaden their knowledge toward different learning fields.
