Annual Ministry of Education "Subsidies For Disadvantaged Students to Study Abroad" Project in Academic Year 2022

Announcement
I. Application Duration: From now until 4:00 p.m. on March 18, 2022 (Fri).

II. Eligibility: Students who meet the following criteria.
(1) Students who have passed the selection process for exchange students programs and are expected to go abroad for one semester or one academic year in the academic year 2022(excluding in-service courses and dual degree students).
(2) Students who have nationality of R.O.C. and have a household registration in Taiwan.
(3) Holders of low-income households, low- and middle-income households, support for families in special situations, living allowance for the physically and mentally disability, support for disadvantaged children and adolescents, emergency living allowance for children and adolescents from disadvantaged families, and living allowance for low- and middle-income seniors within the same household registration, as determined by the competent authorities of each municipality or county (city).
(4) Those who are not enrolled in schools in mainland China, Hong Kong or Macau.

III. The priority order of our recommendation.
(1) College-level exchange students with valid proof of low-income status.
(2) School-level exchange students with valid proof of low- and middle-income status.
(3) College-level exchange students with valid proof of low- and middle-income status.

IV. The Quota of Scholarship: Approved by the Ministry of Education.

V. The Amount of Scholarship: Approved by the Ministry of Education.

VI. Documents to be submitted for student application.
(1) The personal profile of college-level exchange students under the " Subsidies For Disadvantaged Students to Study Abroad " program of the Ministry of Education for the Academic Year 2022.
(2) A photocopy of the Household Certificate opened by the government agency (marked with "matches the original" and signed by hand).
(3) Proof of eligibility for low-income households, low- and middle-income households, support for families in special circumstances, living allowance for the physically and mentally disability, support for disadvantaged children and youth, emergency living allowance for children and youth from disadvantaged families, and living allowance for low- and middle-income elderly within the same household, issued by the competent authorities of each municipality or county (city) after January 1st, 2022.
(4) A study plan for studying abroad of about 1,000 to 1,500 words (including personal biography, goals and plans for studying abroad, expected courses, relevance of current study, and future outlook).
(5) Motivation, intention, and vision for overseas studying.
(6) Chinese transcripts from the University (Graduate students must submit their transcripts from the university).
(7) Proof of foreign language ability.
(8) Proof of outstanding personal performance and development potential.

VII. Announcement of the admission list: It is expected that the list will be announced on the website of the Office of International Affairs before June 30th, 2022, and the case officer of the college and the admitted students will be notified individually.

VIII. Issuance of the Scholarship
(1) One semester exchange students: For the first semester (September), the full amount of scholarship will be granted in October of the year; for the second semester (February), the full amount of scholarship will be granted in February of the year.
(2) One-year exchange students: The scholarship will be granted in two installments: 80% of the scholarship will be granted in October of the first semester and 20% in February of the second semester.

IX. Scholarship Regulations.
(1) Students who have received the scholarship from the Subsidies For Disadvantaged Students to Study Abroad Project are not allowed to receive any other scholarship provided by the government of Taiwan.
(2) Each student may apply for multiple scholarships, including those obtained through the recommendation or submission of the University or exchange schools, but only one scholarship may be received.
(3) The priority of each scholarship is as follows
1. Subsidies For Disadvantaged Students to Study Abroad Project
2. Scholarships of Exchange Schools
3. Scholarships for limited countries, regions, and fields
4. NTU Overseas Exchange Student Scholarship, NTU Hope Voyage Scholarship

X. Obligations of the Awarded Students.
(1) The scholarship recipient and his/her guarantor must sign an administrative contract with the University one month before going abroad and should abide by the contract; if the contact is not signed, the scholarship cannot be received.
(2) The scholarship recipient must provide personal bank account information for the scholarship funds to be credited.
(3) During the study period at the accepted school, the scholarship recipient shall participate in the activities organized by the school to actively promote NTU and its various student exchange programs; after the exchange period, the scholarship recipient shall also participate in the education exhibition organized by the Office of International Affairs in the same year to introduce the study school and share the overseas study experience.
(4) Within two weeks after the end of the exchange period, the awarded students must upload the questionnaire and the report on their study experience to the Student Exchange Program Information Website, and submit the official course records, transcripts and other necessary documents for verification. If those mentioned above are not submitted, the scholarship should be returned to the University in full within three months after the end of the exchange period.
(5) If a student withdraws from school, takes a leave of absence, does not return to his/her home country to complete his/her studies, or returns to his/her home country early without observing the agreed exchange period, the scholarship received shall be returned to the University in full within two months after the end of the exchange period.
(6) Scholarship will be taken away if the student does not receive permission of admission from exchanged school or fails to enroll on time.

XI. In case of natural disasters, war, strikes, unrest, epidemics, and other force majeure or non-attributable reasons, the Office of International Affairs has the right to deal with the situation in case of failure or delay in overseas exchange, which affects the rights of scholarship recipients.

XII. If there are any unfinished issues, they will be handled in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations and the announcement of the Office of International Affairs. XIII. Please submit the paper copy of Point 6 "Student Application Documents " to the 245 Office of College of Liberal Arts by 4:00 p.m. on March 18, 2022. The electronic file should be converted into the PDF form and emailed to cyjung@ntu.edu.tw
