○Purpose of the Seminar
The study of the Japanese language is usually carried out using literary materials. One such example is the study of the history of the Japanese language using old dictionaries and kun-ten materials. In addition, research based on actual survey data on what kind of spoken language is used by residents of a certain community is also being actively conducted. Furthermore, recently, corpora and various electronic materials (language resources) related to the Japanese language are being made available on the Internet. Literature materials, survey data, and language resources are all data that can be used. In this seminar, we will focus on "data-driven research on the Japanese language" and introduce the latest research results.
